Wednesday, May
21st
Sunday was a
wonderful
day!
After an
inspirational
concert
Sunday night
by Paula
Dunn, Pastor
entered the
baptismal
waters for
the first
time since
his bypass
surgery.
He is very
excited to
be back,
even if he
isn't quite
back to 100%
yet.
He continues
to exercise
and eat
better
(mostly) and
received a
good report
from his
doctor last
week.
He is so
thankful for
everyone and
everything.
Please
continue to
pray and
send those
encouraging
cards and
emails.
Monday, May
12th
Pastor was
back in his
pulpit
yesterday
for the
first time
since his
heart attack
on February
23rd. He
preached a
wonderful
sermon for
Mother's Day
and was well
received by
all. It is
so good to
have him
back amongst
us. He has
been back in
the office
as of last
week as
well. Debbie
and he walk
about a mile
every day
and will
soon step it
up a little.
All in all
he is doing
very well.
Thursday,
April 24th
I want to
thank my
wonderful
church
family and
my friends
around the
world for
all of the
cards,
letters,
flowers and
most of all
the blessed
prayers
received on
my behalf.
This has
been a new
experience
for me, one
I have
learned from
and grown
in. Until my
return to
the pulpit,
keep looking
up! Pastor
Wednesday,
April 16th -
3:00 pm
Pastor was
in for staff
meeting
again today
and he looks
stronger and
more himself
every time
we see him.
He announced
that he was
released by
the doctor
as of May
1st. He will
be back to
work soon
and plans on
being in the
pulpit on
May 11th for
Mother's
Day. Yeah!
Just
remember
that when he
comes back
we will need
to help him
not get too
excited too
quickly. He
thanks
everyone for
their
prayers and
cards. You
have been
wonderful.
Wednesday,
April 9th -
3:30 pm
Pastor is
getting
stronger day
by day. He
is being a
good patient
and doing
his
exercises
every day.
For his
leisure time
he has been
reading,
reading,
reading and
planning
sermons.
Won't be
long until
we have him
back. Keep
praying!
Wednesday,
April 2nd -
2:00 pm
Pastor was
in today for
the first
time to
oversee our
staff
meeting. It
was
wonderful to
see him at
his desk and
looking
strong.
Truth be
known, I
think he was
a lot more
comfortable
with it than
he had
anticipated.
He even
stayed a
little
longer than
he had
planned.
Keep
praying!
Monday,
March 31st -
12:00 noon
Good Monday
morning! I
just got off
the phone
with Pastor
and got an
update
straight
from him. He
said he is
feeling
stronger day
by day and
is still
planning his
return to
the pulpit
in May.
Continue
praying for
his healing.
The incision
gives him
some
problems,
and seems to
be the only
thing that
is still
troubling
him.
Keep
praying!
Wednesday,
March 26th -
1:00 pm
Pastor had a
good report
from the
doctor this
morning. He
has been
released to
drive and do
some light
exercise
such as
walking etc.
He is
healing well
and the
doctor
thinks he
might be
able to be
back in his
pulpit
around May.
His heart is
here for
sure so the
delay will
be hard on
him but he
is looking
forward to
preaching
again soon.
Keep holding
him up in
prayer and
remembering
him with
cards.
Monday,
March 24th -
2:00 pm
What a
wonderful
Easter
celebration!
There was
not a dry
eye in the
church when
Pastor's
recorded
Easter
message
video was
shown.
It was so
wonderful to
have him
with us,
even if it
was not in
person.
Continue to
pray - his
first
follow-up
appointment
with the
doctor will
be this
Wednesday
afternoon.
We can't
wait to have
him healthy
and back
with us!
Keep up with
those
encouraging
cards and
emails - HE
LOVES
HEARING FROM
ALL OF
YOU!!!
Friday,
March 21st -
1:00 pm
It is Good
Friday in so
many ways!
Pastor sends
his best
wishes to
all as we
celebrate
Easter this
weekend.
He is very
thankful for
all the
cards and
emails, so
keep them
up!
There is nothing like
encouragement
to "warm
the heart!"
He would
like nothing
better than
to come to
our Easter
Musical
tonight and
Sunday
morning.
Since he still
tires very
easily and
is very
susceptible
to germs, he
will have to
settle for
watching the
video at
home this
year.
For now, please
continue to
honor the
doctor's
restrictions
of
NO
visits or
phone calls
and NO
food from
outside
sources.
He is hoping
this may
change after
his doctor's
appointment
next week,
so please
continue to
pray for his
health.
Watch here
for
continued
updates.
Please send
more of
those
encouraging
cards and
emails to
him at the
following
addresses:
Pastor
McCormick,
PO Box 787,
Gladstone,
OR 97027
pastor@tcbt.org
Wednesday,
March 19th -
9:30 am
Pastor
sounds
strong and
in wonderful
spirits. Can
you believe
it.....we
miss him
changing his
mind around
here.
Seriously,
he is so
missed on a
daily basis.
He is the
one who dots
the "I's"
and crosses
the "T's"
for every
project. Of
course he is
steering the
ship from
home, but we
will be so
glad when he
returns to
work. Keep
praying.
He's doing
great!
Tuesday,
March 18th -
1:00 pm
Pastor
has been
walking each
day to build
up his
strength.
He continues to
get stronger
and is very
encouraged by the
wonderful
cards and
emails all
of you have
been sending.
He still
tires very
easily, so
please
continue to
honor the
doctor's
restrictions
of
NO
visits or
phone calls
and NO
food from
outside
sources. Please
continue to
pray for his
health.
You may
send
encouraging
cards and
emails to
him at the
following
addresses:
Pastor
McCormick,
PO Box 787,
Gladstone,
OR 97027
pastor@tcbt.org
Thursday,
March 13th
- 3:00
pm
Pastor had a
doctors
appointment
today and it
went well.
Of course he
tried to get
them to let
him do what
he wants and
the nurse
informed him
he has to be
good a while
longer. He
is finding
just sitting
very hard.
But, he had
a good
report.
Thursday,
March 13th
- 9:00
am
We know
Pastor is
getting
stronger
because he
has started
checking on
the church.
He called
and told
Kevin the
marquee
needed
changed and
noticed the
parking lot
needed
re-striped.
Debbie is
taking him
out every
day for a
little ride
and of
course he
has to do a
drive by
here at
church. His
heart is
here with us
and he is
working to
get back
soon.
Keep
praying!
Wednesday,
March 12 -
9:00 am
Pastor is
doing very
well and
continues
his
recovery.
Yesterday
Debbie took
him for a
short ride
in the
sunshine and
he wanted a
Dilly bar
from Dairy
Queen so of
course he
got one.
Continue to
pray and
send emails.
He loves
reading
them.
Monday,
March 10th -
9:00 am
Pastor
continues to
get stronger
and is very
encouraged
by the
wonderful
cards and
emails he
receives.
Some of the
staff has
been able to
see him and
were excited
about his
improvement.
Please
continue to
send
encouraging
cards and
emails to
him at the
following
addresses:
Pastor
McCormick,
PO Box 787,
Gladstone,
OR 97027
pastor@tcbt.org
Friday,
March 7th -
11:00 am
Pastor is
doing very
well.
He is still
resting as
comfortably
as possible
at home.
He and the
entire
family truly
appreciate
all of the
cards,
flowers and
messages.
The
outpouring
of love and
support you
have shown
has been
overwhelming
and they are
very
thankful.
The family
is also very
thankful for
the
consideration
you have all
shown in
following
the doctor's
restrictions
of no
visits,
calls or
food from
the outside
at this
time.
If you wish
to, you may
continue to
send
encouraging
cards and
emails to
him at the
following
addresses:
Pastor
McCormick,
PO Box 787,
Gladstone,
OR 97027
pastor@tcbt.org
Thursday,
March 6th -
11:00 am
Pastor is
resting as
comfortably
as possible
at home.
Please allow
him this
time to
heal.
We know
everyone
would like
to see him
and speak
with him,
but during
these first
few weeks it
is
absolutely
crucial that
he continues
to rest.
So please
honor the
doctor's
restrictions:
1.
He is to
have NO
visits or
calls.
2.
He cannot
have food
from outside
sources.
Continued
updates will
be posted
here and on
the church
phone’s
extension
#11. If you
would like
to send a
card, please
mail it to:
Pastor
McCormick,
PO Box 787,
Gladstone,
OR 97027
or you may
send an
encouraging
email to:
pastor@tcbt.org.
March 4th - NOON
Praise the Lord, Pastor is going home
today.
However, the
doctor has
specified
some
restrictions
that apply
to
everyone
except JoAnn
and the
immediate
family:
1.
He is to
have NO
visits or
calls for a
minimum
of two weeks
– to be
re-evaluated
at that
time.
2.
He cannot
have food
from outside
sources –
the
possibility
of
introducing
germs which
he may not
be able to
fight off is
too great.
We all want Pastor to heal quickly and
completely.
Although he
enjoys every
visit and
phone call,
his recovery
time is
prolonged by
each
encounter.
He tires
quickly and
his body
cannot heal
itself
without the
proper rest.
Continued
updates will
be posted
here and on
the church
phone’s
extension
#11. If you
would like
to send a
card, please
mail it to:
Pastor
McCormick,
PO Box 787,
Gladstone,
OR 97027.
You may
send an
encouraging
email to:
pastor@tcbt.org.
Monday,
March 3rd -
10:00 pm
Went and
walked with
Dad
today. He
was moved
out of ICU
and into a
room in CCU. He
was in good
spirits and
felt better
than he did
two days
ago. They
have taken
away some
medications
and have
given a new
one which
his heart
seems to
tolerate
better. The
plans are
that he will
come home
Tuesday if
all goes
well
tonight.
Debbie
Monday,
March 3rd -
3:00 pm
Pastor just
called and
said he will
get to come
home
tomorrow. He
still can't
have
visitors or
phone calls
when he
comes home.
We need to
do our part
and just
pray and
send cards
of
encouragement
so he can
rest.
Sunday,
March 2nd -
11:30 pm
Dad was
taken back
to ICU at
Providence
in
Portland. They
kept him
quiet all
day with no
visitors
except us
for 1 minute
each hour
today.
There was a
problem with
his
medications
not working
together
very
well. He is
back on
oxygen and
they
adjusted
some of his
medications. He
is resting
very well
and seems to
be doing
a lot better.
Thanks to
everyone for
their
prayers.
Debbie
Sunday,
March 2nd
Pastor got
to come home
Saturday
afternoon
but had to
be taken
back to the
hospital
this
morning.
They are
keeping him
quiet and
helping him
rest. Please
continue to
pray for him
and the
family.
Saturday,
March 1st -
10:00 am
Pastor is
doing well.
Getting
stronger
every day.
He will be
home soon
and we need
to help him
get better
by not
overwhelming
him with
visits and
calls. He
has a lot of
work to do
to finish
his
recovery.
Friday, Feb.
29th -
midnight
Dad is doing
great. He
walked four
times today
and even
tried a few
stairs. He
is so
anxious to
get out of
the hospital
that he
continues
each day to
push himself
and do what
the doctors
order even
more.
Thanks to
all that
have come to
visit the
family,
have brought
goodies to
eat as well
as their
prayers and
support.
Thursday,
Feb. 28th -
10:30 pm
Dad looks
really
good. He
was very
tired
tonight from
all of the
activities
of the day.
Tomorrow is
another new
day and I
plan on
working him
a little
harder from
Dr's
orders. He
is getting
better and
better.
We have been
able to
minister to
many
families in
the waiting
area. Every
night Hanna
sings "Jesus
Loves Me"
and "He Has
The Whole
World In His
Hands" to
all of the
families in
the waiting
room. They
applaud and
even cry.
Hopefully
through her
and her
ministry she
has
comforted
many even
her own
family.
Thursday,
Feb 28th
- 3:00 pm
Debbie just
phoned in an
update for
Pastor
McCormick.
His fever
has broken,
and he has
had a garden
burger on a
whole wheat
bun for
lunch (which
he didn't
like) He's
also had a
walk around
CCU with
Debbie. The
walking
expands the
lungs and is
critical for
recovery and
for
preventing
pneumonia.
He will be
resting for
the rest of
the
afternoon.
The family
asks for us
to continue
praying for
Pastor, and
stress
again, NO
phone calls
and NO
Pastor
visits. Of
course, you
are welcome
to visit the
family in
the waiting
area of the
hospital,
however if
you come
when the
family has
taken a
break, you
may leave
your name at
the nurse's
station to
let them
know that
you have
stopped by.
Thursday,
Feb. 28th -
11:00 am
Just talked
to JoAnn and
she shared
that Pastor
still has a
fever but he
was able to
shower and
shave this
morning so
he is feeling
better that
way. His
doctor was
in and said
his heart is
better since
the surgery
than it has
been in
years. JoAnn said
that she
heard a fine
sermon from
Pastor and
then she
heard an
equally fine
sermon from
the doctor
so she is
set after
missing
church last
Sunday and
last night.
His doctor
told them he
will be sure
to visit our
church when
Pastor is
back. He is
a wonderful
Christian
man.
Thursday,
Feb. 28th -
8:45 am
Email from
Debbie:
The
update is
that Dad had
a big day,
saw too many
people and
is now
running a
high fever.
Please let
people know
that we need
their
prayers and
ask again,
no phone
calls and no
Pastor
visits. If
they come
when the
family has
taken a
break they
can leave
their name
with the
nurses
station to
let them
know that
they have
stopped by.
Thank you,
Debbie
Wednesday,
Feb. 27th -
4:00 pm
We as a
staff got to
see Pastor
just now for
ONE minute.
We told him
we came for
staff
meeting and
he said it
would be a
short one.
The hospital
staff said
he should
have no
visits or
calls while
at the
hospital,
because it
will drain
his energy
and slow his
progress. He
looked good,
but his hair
was messed
up! However,
you may
visit the
family
in the
waiting room
from about
10:00 am to
8:00 pm.
Wednesday,
Feb. 27th -
11:00 am
This
morning,
while
Pastor’s
family was
in the
waiting
area, the
doors from
CCU opened,
and Pastor
and his
nurse came
walking
through!
They were
thrilled!
Although
this update
is brief, it
is wonderful
news. Praise
God!
Tuesday,
Feb. 26th -
10:00 pm
Pastor's
nurse says
he walked a
little and
is doing
better.
Tuesday,
Feb. 26th -
8:00 pm
Pastor is
doing about
the same.
They were
supposed to
sit him up
in a chair
for dinner.
Please
continue to
pray for his
recovery. I
don't think
he walked
today so I
am sure that
will
probably
happen
tomorrow.
Tuesday,
Feb. 26th -
2:30 pm
Pastor is
having a
better day
today. He is
sitting up
and had a
good lunch.
After he
rests they
are going to
get him up
for the
first time
to walk. His
doctor is
encouraged
and says he
is doing
great! He
also
reminded us
that he will
have ups and
downs so we
wouldn't be
surprised on
days that
aren't as
good as
today.
Tuesday,
Feb. 26th -
11:00 am
Debbie just
called and
reported
that Pastor
had a rough
night, which
is to be
expected
these first
couple of
days. Please
continue to
pray for
Pastor and
the family.
JoAnn is
only allowed
to go in to
see him for
1 minute at
a time and
has to wait
a span of
time in
between
visits. No
one besides
JoAnn has
been allowed
to see him
today.
Debbie and
Rusty may
get to go in
this
afternoon.
Tuesday,
Feb. 26th
We have had
so many
blessings
through this
difficult
time that
rejoicing is
all we can
think about.
When Pastor
came in from
washing his
car on
Saturday
afternoon he
sat down and
told JoAnn
that his arm
and back
hurt, then
he started
sweating
profusely.
JoAnn gave
him an
aspirin and
a nitro pill
and insisted
he go to the
hospital.
The doctor
said that
actually
saved his
life.
(first
blessing: a
stubborn
German
wife!)
At the first
hospital
they
immediately
assessed him
and
determined
he needed to
be
transferred
to Portland
Providence
Medical
Center and
they had a
special
transport
unit
that kept
him from
bouncing
around and
they got him
there
safely.
(second
blessing:
equipment to
help in a
time of
need.)
When they
reached the
second
hospital a
wonderful
doctor,
just
happened to
be on duty.
(third
blessing:
Christian
doctor, just
the right
one for
Pastor)
The next day
(Sunday) Dr.
Ott gathered
everyone
together
before the
angiogram
was to be
performed to
explain what
he would be
doing and
then he
explained
that he was
a physician
who had the
tools to fix
Pastors
heart, but
that he was
not the
Great
Physician.
Then he
prayed with
the family
and went in
to do his
job.
(Amazing
Blessing: a
doctor who
knows who to
lean on)
After the
angiogram it
was
determined
that they
needed to do
open heart
surgery. The surgery was
supposed to
be 4-8 hours
in length
but was only 3
1/2 hours
and a 4 way
bypass
instead of
3. Praise
God all went
well and Dr. Ott was able
to mend all
areas
affected
including
injecting
blood into
the damaged
area of the
heart and
possibly
rejuvenating
that area to
some degree.
JoAnn has
been strong
and leaning
completely
on our Lord.
She is
amazed that
our church
family is so
far
reaching.
She has
heard from
all around
the world as
those who
love Pastor
send their
prayers.
9:00 AM
(Tuesday,
Feb. 26th) -
Here is a
note from
the family:
Thank you
everyone so
much for all
of your
support
yesterday.
We greatly
appreciate
the prayers,
concerns and
support that
we have been
shown at
this time.
We want to
let everyone
know that
they are
welcome to
visit the
hospital to
give support
to the
family if
they so
desire.
Please
continue in
prayer as
the next
couple of
days are
critical and
so much can
still
happen.
We will keep
the church
informed of
any new
information.
Love, from
the Family
